What is a mammogram?
A mammogram is a specialised x-ray procedure that uses low doses of radiation to detect the early stages of breast cancer. At For Women 3D Mammography Centre, we use the latest technology – 3D Tomosynthesis Mammography. This technology produces 1mm slice images throughout both breasts that give a three-dimensional view of the breasts.
A newer technology – 3D Tommo is so advanced that it picks up lesions using very low doses of x-ray with minimal compression. The images produced are digital 3 dimensional.
The benefits of 3D Mammography( as per Hologic & patients experience):
- Superior 3D image quality
- Early detection of cancer
- An improved cancer detection rate.
- Patient’s experience – “Softer, more gently mammogram”
